Man Drinks Beer, Throws Clothes During Chase
(CBS) LOS ANGELES Police arrested a man after he led them on a three-hour- plus chase around Southern California, throwing clothes, trash and two wallets out of the car, according to authorities.

Upland police said they tried to stop, Michael David Lopez, 32, for an unspecified vehicle code violation when he fled, leading them on a chase through three counties, ending about 2:25 a.m. in North Hollywood, CHP Officer Alex Gonzalez said.

Kevin Hackie, an ex-FBI informant who was expected to provide eyewitness testimony tying corrupt police officers to alleged conspirators behind the 1997 slaying, spoke out Friday after learning that an arrest warrant had been issued to force him to testify in the family's wrongful-death lawsuit against the city of Los Angeles.

A 20-year-old man was stabbed to death during a Cambodian New Year celebration at a Buddhist temple, police said Monday.

The victim, whose name was not released, was stabbed Sunday night during an argument with another man attending the celebration at Wat Kmer Temple, police spokeswoman Kristi Sandoval said. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Or do they back Villaraigosa, a former civil rights, labor and Latino activist who has worked hard to dispel the fear of blacks that a Latino official will reflexively play the ethnic card, tilt heavily toward Latinos, and exclude them from decision making at City Hall? The choice that they make will tell much about the fate of multi-ethnic political alliances in Los Angeles, California and probably nationally.
